- "Angels of the Deep", Season 5
Today its where Royal Caribbean, among other cruise lines, docks their passenger ships, but back then, it was where Sonny Bono and pals stashed their cache o' grass - the backside of Pier 10 in Honolulu Harbor.
The Angels rode their jeep around these grounds, including the pier's parking garage, and ended up heading west down the pier itself, ultimately ending up at a point where the pier's structure turns the corner and begins to head towards Aloha Tower.
Nestled in a busy area now called the Aloha Tower Marketplace, Piers 9, 10, and 11 are bounded by lovely Irwin Park and the famously historical Aloha Tower, one of Hawaii's most singular landmarks.
The Tower, built in 1926, serves as a traffic control center, but perhaps more importantly, acts as a welcoming icon for those entering the harbor. When Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941, Coast Guardsmen were ordered to take up defensive positions around Aloha Tower and protect it from being occupied by the invading Japanese. Shortly thereafter, the Tower was painted in camouflage so as to disappear at night.
