KELLY GARRETT

While Kelly is often cited in fandom (and the show itself) as the toughest Angel when it comes to physical confrontations, the numbers prove this was not actually the case. To be fair, a lot of times when Kelly got owned in a fight it was due more to lazy writing than any real consideration of her character or skills. We were as surprised as you are to learn that the longest-standing Angel only had the second-most fights.

Still, despite her relatively low ranking, the lovely Ms Garrett still managed to kick some serious bad guy (and gal) booty during her years working for Charlie. Unlike most other Angels, she tended to perform better when fighting women than men, taking down much larger female adversaries (KillingBackfield) and specializing in roughing up showgirls backstage (The Vegas Connection, Magic Fire) for no other reason than because she could. Though everyone used the standardized fight moves (Elbow, Chop, and Flip) at some point, Kelly was the one who relied most heavily upon Angel pseudo-kung fu throughout her tenure, making it her fighting specialty. We’ll even go so far as to name her the founder of the classic Angels fighting style, as she can even be seen performing an Angel Flip at the Police Academy at the beginning of every episode.

Perhaps due to inconsistent writing, Kelly seemed to have an every-other-year pattern of effectiveness. The show’s final season gave her a major comeback in ass-kicking ability, then in an illogical twist, ended things on a low note with a disappointing performance in Attack Angels; the series’ only inter-Angel fight put Kelly on the losing end of a Julie beatdown, having to be avenged by Kris.

HONORS FOR KELLY

FIRST BUTT KICKER

It's an easily-missed moment, but Kelly literally kicks a henchman's butt in the Charlie's Angels pilot, securing the honor of being the first Angel to physically defeat a bad guy.

SEASON 1'S WORST FIGHTER

Although Kelly kicked a lot of butt in the first season, she also lost more fights than Sabrina and Jill, making her the least capable fighter in the first lineup.

PSEUDO KUNG FU FOUNDER

Kelly's master of the Angels' most iconic fighting style, chopping chumps and flipping fools all the way from her police academy training footage to her final season.

SEASON 2'S BEST FIGHTER

Kelly recovered well in her second year, losing only a single fight in Season 2 and thus out-battling both Sabrina and Kris.

BEAT BY A FELLOW ANGEL

A distinction Kelly shares only with her assailant, Julie (who soon got her comeuppance). Ironically, it was karate chops that felled the Pseudo Kung Fu master!

SEASON 3'S BEST FIGHTER

Miss Garrett's superior fighting record continues into the third season, proving always the Angel most dangerous to tangle with when flanked by Sabrina and Kris.

MOST FIGHTS LOST

Although Kelly isn't the Angel with the most fights under her belt, nor the worst statistical fighting record, she is the one who lost the most altercations total.

UNDEFEATED SEASON

Kelly is the only Angel ever to go an entire season without getting her butt kicked, coming out on top of every scuffle she encountered in Season 3.
