Angels at the Altar

SUMMARY

Kelly, her “old friend” Sharon and fiance Scott Miller, a former champion skier, are driven at by a crazed Robert Walker Jr. It seems many attempts have been made on Sharon’s fiance’s life within the past several months and Sharon wants the Angels to check into this. Kris is sent out after Burt Marshall, Scott’s partner, in his shop which sells ski equipment and bikinis. She converses with Robert Walker, Jr.

Jaclyn Smith at the WeddingKelly feigns excitement as she joins Sharon at her family’s mansion, where Bosley is masquerading as a bartender. Sharon’s drunk grandfather makes repeated passes at Kelly. Randy Todd, photographer and ex-fiance of Sharon’s, arrives and sets up studio to shoot wedding portraits.

Meanwhile, Scott kisses Claudia Harper (Sharon’s cousin) grossly at an airport phone booth, and announces that “accident number four is just about to happen.” He goes home and feigns food poisoning after allegedly eating an old sandwich. Kris, virtually unseen up to this point, manages the office and spends her time “thinking like a detective.”

During the wedding rehearsal, the flower girl tugs at Kelly’s dress and points the way to Scott and Sharon’s makeout spot in the woods, while Robert Walker, Jr., dressed as a sniper, fires a shot at them. In the aftermath of the shooting, Scott calls off the wedding under the guise of protecting the others. Kris flies solo to Aspen to interrogate Scott’s former partner at his ski shop where she learns of Scott’s secret affair with Claudia.

Photog Randy has a drink too many at Scott’s bachelor party and flies off the handle when Bosley refuses to serve him another. Unstable suspect perhaps? This provides a diversion while Scott slips back out into the woods to rendezvous with Claudia. Bosley and Kelly follow and observe. When grilled about this, Claudia tries to convince Kelly that it’s over between them. Sharon traipses around the house in her 19th century wedding gown until she bumps into melancholy Randy, who makes it clear he is still carrying a torch.

Kris alights from a maid’s van and joins Bosley, Kelly and Tiffany in a public huddle to audibly discuss the case as Robert Walker, Jr. and Claudia observe them from the bushes.

The wedding ceremony commences while Kris and Tiff (who’s there undercover as a violinist in the wedding orchestra) ransack bedrooms searching for evidence. Noticing the violinist’s absence, Claudia scowls and stalks back inside the house where she walks in on Kris discovering a dismantled rifle in Burt’s suitcase. She barricades Kris in a closet until Tiffany comes to the rescue. The girls race back out to stop the wedding in the nick of time, and Scott holds the bride hostage until Randy wrestles him into submission. Maid Kris emerges from the bushes with a pistol and Kelly, still holding a bouquet, proclaims “we’ll take it from here”.

The Angels force Sharon to get re-involved with Randy when they arrange for him to suddenly appear at the office during the wrap-up.

ACTION

Compared to Scott and Randy’s fistfight, the Angels’ action was disappointing. Kris loses her cat fight when Claudia puts a blanket over her head and stuffs her in a closet. Kelly’s contribution consists of kicking Scott in the knee.

Charlies Angels Fashion FASHION

Kelly sports lots of two-toned blouses/pants ensembles, first in lavenders, then taupes, complimented by matching empty bags. Tiffany follows suit with a bland lavender blouse and skirt.

Charlies Angels Trivia CURIOSITIES

• The footage of Kris driving up to the ski shop is oddly sped up. Also, her double that gets out of the Cobra has hair half her length.

• Why is Kris all hesitant about the bikini in the store when she’s worn smaller ones herself?

• The shot of Kelly looking concerned at Sharon’s phone call from Scott is backwards.

• At the beginning of the wedding action, watch Tiffany weirdly tip over for no reason.

Charlies Angels Episode Reviews TOWNSEND AGENCY COMMENTARY

Episode Rating:
Groom is the bad guy? Surprise. Kelly has annoying friends. Would have been more interesting if the murder plans had succeeded. Instead Tiffany fell down for no reason and Kris was defeated by a blanket over the head. Fail.

Episode Rating:
Uggg, the dissing of Tiffany begins. She gets almost no lines and her big contribution to the take down is to be tipped over? The Angels all step aside and allow the men (both good and bad) to do all the fighting. Dumb.

Why is it necessary to dress as a sniper when you are shooting people on your lawn?

  • Padraig

Did you catch a glimpse of the blond bridesmaid next to Kelly during the ceremony? Oddest looking face I have ever seen.
